Two weekends ago, Christian Tiger School (Luc Veermeer and Sebastiano Zanasi) took part in a showcase that would have given them the chance to book sets at overseas festivals. Off the strength of those shows, they got booked for Primavera Pro in Barcelona. Primavera is, annually, one of the best-curated, most avant-garde and high-profile festival on the international circuit. Primavera Pro is the conference part of the festival and is aimed as a showcase for agents and representatives of national and international artists, concert promoters and festival and music event organizers, professionals from independent and multinational record companies, distributors and record shops, and more.

Only twenty-seven bands are selected, making Christian Tiger School part of an elite crop of as-yet-under-the-international-radar bands.

Here’s what the band have to say:

“This is a huge platform for Christian Tiger School to get attention from international labels, festivals, booking agents, press etc. Unfortunately, only one nights accommodation is covered. All other expenses are covered by us. This doesn’t give us much time to raise funds to pay for tickets.”

To try and make a plan in a small amount of time, the band have put together a campaign via a crowdfunding platform, indiegogo. They aim to raise $3000 to cover flights and living expenses, with their hope to make enough to head to the UK and play some shows there as well.

This is where they’re calling on you, their fans. The campaign is ending on the 19th of May because of the need to book tickets post-haste, and they all the donations they can get before that time. There are, as with all crowdfunding initiatives, rewards. Click on this link to donate – if you donate R100, you will get 3-track EP with unreleased tracks from Desert Head, Yes In French and Christian Tiger School themselves. They also promise to throw a free party to celebrate, the details of which will be announced soon. If you don’t have a credit card handy, you can pay with your debit card.

If you believe in Christian Tiger School and the ability of South African music to take over the world, then donate. Watch Veeremeer and Zanasi directly addressing their fans below.
