City Soiree, the crowd-funded event pioneers, have put together an event that truly seems worth getting excited about. Past / Future / Tense, which will take place on the 5th of June at the Brundwyn+ Art Gallery in Cape Town’s CBD, is a thrillingly unique concept: taking the existing music of established artists, deconstructing it, reshaping it, and performing it live with a full ensemble.
Violinist Galina Juritz will be undertaking the musical reconstructions for this ambitious project. The two musical acts featured are Card On Spokes (Shane Cooper) and Bateleur, who will re-enact their recent magical live collaboration with spoken-word artist Toast Coetzer, this time backed by a full band. Cooper will be joined by long-time musical pal Reza Khota and vocalist Nicky Schrire.
This is certainly one of the most salivating prospects for any music lover out there. In order for the event to open, 150 pledges or R145 are needed. If you are one of the 150 pledgers, you’ll also save money on tickets (which will increase in price to R165 once the pledges are met).
To give you an idea of what you might expect, here is a video of Bateluer and Toast Coetzer at their Secret Soiree gig last month.
