After a few long weeks of anticipation and constant tasters of what the final lineup for Muse’s inaugural all-weekender would finally look like, we have clarity. As we’ve reported before, Muse is a collaborative festival in the close-to-center-of-Cape-Town industrial zone of Paarden Eiland. It’s being hosted at the fantastically diverse and steady iconic-venue-in-the-making, Colorbox Studios.
After announcing the full Friday lineup, assembled by the folks behind Wax On, as well as the full daytime Saturday lineup – courtesy of Black Major, the organisers of Muse have been steadily releasing golden nugget after golden nugget.
Highlights include Fever Trails, Floyd Lavine, Julian Gomes, Pierre-Estienne, Lady Venom, Sir Vincent, Paul Waxon, John Wizards and the inimitable DJ Lag (who’s JUST released a 4-track transcendental dream-jive EP).
Aside from that fire, a huge moment for all fans of We House Sundays and soulful house in general is the announcement of Sunday’s headliner, New York City’s own Monique Bingham. Coming from a background in acid jazz – singing alongside instrumentalist legends such as Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock – and venturing very quickly into the world of jazz-drenched underground dance music, she has come out with her own self-produced work, which was performed at the acclaimed Cape Town International Jazz Fest in 2011.
She has since worked with legends Louie Vega and Black Coffee.
She joins the following fire lineup:
FRI – WAXON (18:00 – 03:00)
THE CITY – LIVE
DJ KENZHERO (JHB)
SAT – BLACK MAJOR SELECTS (12:00 – 22:00)
