Over the past two weeks, The Nomadic Orchestra have been popping up all over the city, performing their unique brand of Balkan dance to unsuspecting audiences. You might have already seen them – the #FindTheNomads Campaign, which started on the 3rd of March, has already seen them perform on a street corner in Newlands, on the UCT Jammies buses, at Carnival Court on Long Street, and, two days ago, on the tables of Your Truly on Kloof.
The campaign is part of the build-up to their upcoming music video launch which will take place on the 11th of April 2014 at The Assembly. The day before each secret show during the month of March, the band will be sharing clues with their fans via their Facebook and Twitter pages. For every show, three clues will be shared at approximately 10AM, 2PM and 4PM in the build up to the event. Fans who are able to figure out the three clues, will then know the secret location and time and would be able to attend the pop-up show, which can take place anywhere in Cape Town, for free.
The remaining dates are as follows:
14 March 2014
16 March 2014
18 March 2014
20 March 2014
23 March 2014
24 March 2014
This is a fresh and exciting campaign by a band that already has a devoted following around the city. It combines elements of ‘Where’s Fluffy?’ mystery with the happy surprise of chance, happenstance encounters with a favourite band. The Nomadic Orchestra should be applauded for orchestrating such an innovative, extensive campaign.
Catch them at today’s mystery location!
