Brooklyn’s Damon McMahon, front man of eerie pop band, Amen Dunes, has said that Love, their forthcoming record out May 13 via Sacred Bones, will be ‘the best thing I’ve ever done, ever’. With so much confidence at hand, it may be hard to listen to their most recent single, ‘I Can’t Dig It’, without great expectations. Yet, it’s safe to say that with one listen, it’s hard not to be hooked to the swirling lo-fi depths of anger and frustration he has so effortlessly and musically put together.

Featuring guest guitar work from Godspeed You! Black Emperor’s Efrim Menuck, and incredible sax from the Godspeed/Tom Waits/Arcade Fire/Bon Iver/TV On The Radio sideman, Colin Stetson, the sound is richer and more powerful than ever before. Unlike previous singles, ‘Lonely Richard’ and ‘Lilac in Hand’, McMahon has taken a less ponderous route with ‘I Can’t Dig it’, and has created an incredibly confident and complete sound – a testament to the time and effort that went into the creation of these songs.
