Following the release of Psychic in 2013, Darkside began to seem like more than an entertaining distraction for Nicholas Jaar and Brooklyn instrumentalist Dave Harrington. But alas, as the duo called it quits last night by announcing on their Twitter page that they were ‘coming to and end, for now.’
In an attempt to satisfy the insatiable and console our lost hopes for a full-length follow up to Psychic, Jaar and Harrington released two tracks that ‘didn’t make the album.’ ‘Gone Too Soon’ is the more memorable goodbye of the two, and sees Darkside off with a typically infectious blend of Jaar’s cavernous digital-jazz and Harrington’s thumping contributions on guitar.
The duo’s last show at the Masonic Temple in Brooklyn on September 12 will doubtlessly be a bittersweet affair, leaving its attendees with more than they expected out of the night and less out of Darkside in the future. Check out the aptly-titled ‘Gone Too Soon’ below:
