Fiancé are a relatively new four-piece dream-pop band hailing from the small college town of Newark, Delaware. Their music can immediately be tagged with stereotyped words like, ‘dreamy’, ‘lush’ or ‘ethereal’. For all fans of shoegaze-indebted, mellow and wispy pop then this band is likely to gently cajole you into submission.

The debut single off of their new debut EP, EP1 (didn’t FKA twigs already coin that?), is the throbbing and spacey, ‘Era’. The gently thudding drums and clipped vocal sample are slight variations to the dream-pop template but lead singer, Andrew Fusca’s hazy vocals will have you pining for the halcyon days where every solitary long walk was sound-tracked by Washed Out or early Youth Lagoon. But, just like the best purveyors of this type of music, the real pleasure comes as a subtle but yet all-consuming climax as the instrument merge into a giddy blur of feedback and hiss. It is pure uncomplicated satisfaction.
