After two excellent offerings bathed in a not disparate formula over the past three years, the Danish punks have daringly channelled their unrelenting drive towards a post-Libertines, cow-punk cut with panache. Elias Rønnenfelt’s accented, off-kilter croon-cum-lament is typically contrasted by the militancy of their instrumentals and is crisply presented on ‘The Lord’s Favorite’, hitting home as emphatically Doherty-esque.

Iceage follows this new creative inspiration with the fealty of soldiers obeying orders; everything the band does is severe, which makes for an interesting product when they’ve opted for a route that sees them at ease for a few minutes. Despite this, the video isn’t exactly disarming, being so close up to Rønnenfelt’s icy gaze for most of it. But it’s characteristically intense, stylish and the song is their most inviting one yet.
