Beloved seedy electro-pop weirdos, Little Dragon, are set to release LP number 4, Nabuma Rubberband, midway through next month. The Swedish foursome have revealed two tracks ahead of the album’s release, with ‘Paris’ being the thumping yet lithe follow-up to the palate-whetting ‘Klapp Klapp’.
Despite its uncompromising momentum, ‘Paris’ is charmingly light on its feet. Dismissing the traditional romantic imagery associated with the city, the track’s lyrics suggest post break-up gloom. But the sonic narrative informs of something slightly different – a palpable confidence that comes with successfully getting over someone or something and being able to look back without cringing. A not atypical drum-beat backbone sets the stage for the Nagano’s featherweight vocals, inter-weaving synths and keyboards and a handsome bassline.
