Off the back of their successful second album, Cold Spring Fault Less Youth, Mount Kimbie are utilising all of their own connections as well as some via their esteemed label, Warp, to provide CSFLY Remixes. Due out near the end of the month, they’ve been teasing at what is to come – this track being the latest.
Lee Gamble is a British producer who is known for his abstractionism. Taking what could possibly be a few seconds of a song or even an ambient recording, he then deconstructs sound to provide slow, raw and percussive breakdowns. This rework is no exception. Introducing at a point what might just be King Krule’s aching croon – all hopes of that are dashed when he’s filtered and sequenced into something as mechanical and cold as the beats themselves.
