The sensuous musical bromance between Los Angeles producer, Shlohmo, and Chicago RnB gentleman, Jeremih, has birthed yet another over-sexed specimen of opulent RnB darkness. This time it is the heady title track off their forthcoming No More EP, out this March.
A rippling digital run makes the first move, quickly absorbed by the layered electronic charms, surging bass and hyperactive hi-hats that identifies Shlohmo. Jeremih’s liquid and falsetto vocals seem distressed, zealous and desirous –a sense only enhanced by the coarse, pitch-bent “Oh”s that sample throughout the heightened and sweaty second half of ‘No More.’
Following ‘Fuck You All the Time’ and ‘Bo Peep (Do You Right)’, a fixation with sensuality was unescapable with ‘No More’. Indeed, many certainly will make beast with two backs as Jeremih’s lascivious coos dim the lights. However, No More brings more to the table. It is mature, dark and complex. This all bodes well for the pair’s game on their upcoming full-length, Thumpy Johnson.
