UK-based South African producer Ashton Fox has been making music for a while now in different styles and under various monikers. He began his SØNDER project in 2014 and has released a steady stream of music since then, including a four-track EP called Your Love in December of last year.
‘Circles’ is at once both something of a departure from his recent releases and also entirely indicative of the way Fox likes to work. Incorporating live instrumentation, recordings of a Johannesburg thunder storm and featuring his own vocals, the track thumps from the get go moving along a tropical house shuffle but managing to sound fresh and unique all the same. ‘It’s important to have your own voice,’ he wrote on his Facebook in the build-up to the tracks’ release, and on ‘Circles’ we’re really starting to hear that voice, in more ways than one.
