Zoocci Coke Dope, a producer, singer and rapper from Pretoria, is the man right now. He’s experienced a stellar rise after lending his hook services to songs by the likes of Kempton Park-born rapper, Big Star Johnson, Makhado-born producer J Smash and many more rising stars in South African rap. After a string of high-profile collaborative projects, he’s finally released his solo EP.
Titled Morning Star, the project proves that Zoocci can stand alone as a rapper and performer. The trademark hard-hitting hooks and production he’s leant to other artists’ songs give his music an instant familiarity.
Performing with the aid of auto-tune over mostly self-produced trap beats, Zoocie’s subject matter covers his personal struggles and his vices, as well as his determination to be the next big thing.
Having started out as a producer, Zoocci is an intriguing musician. You might remember his impressive tag on Blaklez’s 2014 hit single “Freedom Or Fame”. Zoocci’s sound is definitely up-to-date, with his cloud trap production and trippy auto-tuned vocals in high demand. If Morning Star proves anything it’s that Zoocci’s got it all on lock.
